If this last year has taught us anything it’s that each and every one of us really does matter. Throughout the pandemic, I’ve witnessed how local people and businesses in our area have come together in all sorts of ways to highlight what a fantastic community we have here in Coulsdon.
From delivering food parcels, to shopping for the most vulnerable, to supporting our local businesses – we really have united.
Keeping that community spirit
But how can we harness the enthusiasm we’ve seen during this period and continue to work together to help local projects?
As estate agents based in Coulsdon, our team at Hallways have worked throughout the last year and have helped more people than ever safely buy and sell properties in our area. The real sense of community, that buyers crave, has been a massive selling point for us and as we start the process of getting back to ‘normal’, something we feel must continue is our renewed attitude to ‘giving back’.
We already have a very close-knit community – you only have to look at the local Facebook group to see that. For someone who sells the benefits of the area on a daily basis, it’s fantastic to see. Just a quick look through it shows residents providing valued recommendations to local people, promoting businesses and activities and virtually high-fiving the fantastic litter picking service that volunteers have been getting involved in to make our town a much cleaner place.
Local fundraising
We have all felt the impact of the pandemic in many different ways but charities and local projects are now even more in need of our help and donations. For the last [XX] years, as an agency, we’ve been supporting local charity St Raphael’s Hospice, who offer emotional support and palliative care to patients and their families during the very hardest of times. For every sale or rental agreement we complete, we donate £25 or £[XX] to raise money to fund this service. It’s just one of the ways we support where we can.
Over the years we have also sponsored our local school fairs and events. While this helps raise our profile with the use of banners and advertising, our main aim is always on what we can give back to our local area. We would love to see these events come back with a bang when conditions allow but we are also excited about developing new opportunities with local people to improve and enhance the area we all love to live in.
If you have any ideas, or you’re keen to get involved with us in supporting St Raphael’s, please get in touch. Together we can all make a difference.
